The Amazon Rainforest is home of the Harpy Eagle: the most powerful eagle in the whole world, it can pull of trees monkeys and sloths with no efforts. We were photographing in the trail with a rocky stream ahead, we heard a wing beat and by the sounds we start guessing the possible forest creature coming into view.
It can fly through canopy of the forest, but most of its time its watching quietly on thick branches up in the frontiers of trees. Its has a heavy take off, audible for couple docens of meters away and the forest gets quiet for a second.
When nesting it keeps monkey stable population in the vecinity of the nesting area, this is very interesting; these primate would turn it meals for the juvenile early hunting practice. This kind of relationships had been running for thousands of years and hopefully for many more to come.
